Can Bangladesh bank on T20I hero Mahmudullah in Test cricket?

He has a Test average of 32.07 from 47 Tests, and that’s well below what the team needs from a senior batsman

Mohammad Isam18-Nov-2019A much improved T20I batsman. A middle-order stalwart in ODIs. A calming influence and an all-round nice guy. Mahmudullah is all these things, but is he someone Bangladesh can bank on in Test cricket? The answer or solution probably lies in something the BCB has been pondering for a while now: separating the core groups for the three formats. Since 2015, Mahmudullah has been a more reliable ODI batsman than before, averaging 35.98 – including all his three centuries in the format – as against an average of 32.16 prior to that. And ever since Chandika Hathurusingha drilled into him his importance as a T20I finisher, he’s been a match-winner.The problem is with Tests. With Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal missing, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim are the two senior batsmen in the side. In the Indore Test, which Bangladesh lost inside three days, Mushfiqur top-scored in both innings for his team with 43 and 64. That’s in team totals of 150 and 213. As for Mahmudullah, in the first innings, he left all three stumps exposed as he attempted a sweep off R Ashwin, missed altogether, and was bowled. In the second, he went after a Mohammed Shami length ball outside off and poked it to the slips. Not what you’d expect.

As Domingo has said, Bangladesh are prepared to struggle with new faces in the side. It would be like taking a clean break from the era of picking players on reputation and form from other formats.

Mahmudullah played important hands in Test wins last year against Zimbabwe and West Indies, and even scored a classy century against New Zealand in Hamilton, though in a losing cause, earlier this year. Three of his four Test centuries have come in the last 12 months. Around this time last year was the first time in many years that Mahmudullah truly batted like a proper Test batsman, gritting it out against Zimbabwe to make an unbeaten 101 to set up a big fourth-innings target for the visitors. But, after 47 Tests, that average still reads 32.07. He scored 7 and 7 in the two innings in the Chattogram Test loss to Afghanistan in September, and now just 25 runs in Indore. Mahmudullah’s trend of going for several innings without making a substantial contribution is another reason why his Test career has never quite taken off: since his debut in July 2009, there have been six occasions when he has not crossed fifty in five or more innings in a row.Coach Russell Domingo speaks to some of the players during a training session•BCBWhen coach Russell Domingo said during the Indore Test that the team management was looking to restructure the Test side, one wondered if Mahmudullah was in those discussions. Yes, there might be some backlash if that happens, but as Domingo said, they are prepared to struggle with new faces in the side. It would be like taking a clean break from the era of picking players on reputation and form from other formats. This, at a time when it is clear that the BCB is thinking about three teams for the three formats. Naming Mominul Haque as the Test captain is a step in that direction, and if a few more Test specialists start performing consistently, Bangladesh’s World Test Championship campaign, which runs till mid-2021, will have the stability and focus it needs.Even if Mahmudullah doesn’t figure there, if he is handed the reins of the T20I side – given his improvement there as a batsman and the fact that he is a natural leader in the format – Bangladesh will have a proper roadmap towards next year’s T20 World Cup too. There should be a separate, grander plan for the ODI side as well, where Mahmudullah will be central to the overall strategy for the 2023 World Cup.So, in many ways, Mahmudullah stepping away from the Test side wouldn’t be the worst thing for him or the team. Can Bangladesh afford to walk that route right now, though, with Shakib and Tamim out and, more immediately, a Test series on the line?

'GG has not just been a mentor, he's been a leader in every department'

Here’s how the KKR players and coaches reacted after their IPL title win

ESPNcricinfo staff26-May-20241:25

Moody: Gambhir has created stability and clarity for KKR

Andre Russell: “No words to explain right now. It means so much with all the fans that have been supporting us throughout the season. We are the players who go game after game and make sure that we get the job done. And it’s the first time we’re actually celebrating our victory and I think it’s the right moment. I’m happy that all of us, we are very disciplined and want the same goal. This franchise has done so much for me, with the fitness and everything. This is a big gift from all of us to them, so I’m happy.”Russell to Star Sports: “It’s my first final for KKR and to get three wickets as well, it means a lot to me and all the bowlers did their job. We keep it as simple as possible. In the first couple of overs we realised the wicket was on the slower side and we used the cutters well, we didn’t overuse it as well. We kind of mixed up the pace. I was happy with a 113 chase any day . I just mentioned to him [Mitchell Starc]. I said, ‘hey, big man, you saved the best for last’. And I’m happy with that because he started on the rough side and I kept feeling that he’s still a world-class bowler, he doesn’t take a few bad games to decide the destiny and I’m happy that he bowled that jaffa to that guy [Abhishek Sharma] and then we’re on our way.Related

KKR's bowlers rip through SRH to win third IPL title

“GG [Gautam Gambhir] has not just been a mentor, he’s been a leader in every department for us, and I think that’s what was key to our success. He made sure that every batter and every bowler was playing their part and GG is just an amazing guy to be in any set-up. The support staff always gave us what we wanted, made sure that we were satisfied leaving the nets and everything played a big part leading up to this championship. GG coming back, winning the IPL, amazing support staff, you don’t need anything more than that.”Varun Chakravarthy: “All I can think of right now is the person who’s built this Indian core. Obviously the international players have been doing very well always, but the main guy behind this is Mr Abhishek Nayar.”Varun to Star Sports: “It’s a result of hard work. Credit goes to two main people, Dinesh Karthik and Abhishek Nayar. They are the guys who set the Indian core about five years back and that’s bearing fruits now. You can bowl at any other ground if you’ve bowled at Eden Gardens. It’s such a small ground, smaller than the TNPL grounds.”It went great bowling with Sunil Narine. We spoke a lot. We lost to Punjab Kings earlier in the season. Gautam then told us: ‘This is the loss that’s going to make us win the final’. And that’s what happened now. That Punjab match was the turning point for us. After we gave away 260-plus runs, Shah Rukh Khan [team owner] told me not to expect any magic ball. He said, ‘Just focus on your basics and that’ll bring you magic; don’t run behind the magic’.”Abhishek Nayar, assistant coach: “It means everything. It has taken a very long time. Personally, I started playing IPL in the first season. It’s taken me 16 years before I got my championship, but I’m really happy for the boys. It’s been five-six years. I can’t express how happy I am. Can’t express it, with the big man [Russell] turning up as usual, but it’s the most surreal feeling that I’ve had in a very long time.”1:20

How dominant were KKR this season?

Venkatesh Iyer: “As Varun mentioned, credit has to go to Abhishek Nayar. You know certain things go unnoticed. I’ll make sure that they don’t go because that guy deserves all the credit in the world for the way he’s been working for this franchise. And this one is for the fans who turned up in huge numbers year after year, waiting for ten years. We have some superstars in our team still we did not win, but kudos to the fans who came in regularly to cheer and support us, this is for them.”Nitish Rana: “When Gautam Gambhir was signed as our mentor, I had congratulated him on WhatsApp. I wrote a long message to him and he thanked me, but he also said he’ll be the happiest when we’ll lift the trophy at the podium. Today is that day and I’ll remember that message forever.”Bharat Arun, bowling coach: “I think it’s been pretty tough last two years. It was touch and go, we didn’t qualify and there’s been a lot of introspection and we did find out what are the areas we really need to work on. We did exactly that. I think Mitch [Starc] coming into the team boosted the confidence of the other youngsters in the side. Mitch is probably one of the best bowlers in world cricket and he’s been in similar situations many times. I think it’s just about Mitch discovering what his strengths are and how the Indian conditions would suit him. Once he understood that, it’s magic all over.””They [Narine and Varun] have been outstanding. Not often you come across spinners who are experienced. Spinners mature with age and so Sunny [Narine] with his experience and also Varun has been in the IPL for four to five years – both bowling in tandem has worked exceptionally well for us. He [Narine] has brought a totally different dimension to our batting this year. I thought it was Gautam who insisted that Sunny opens and that was a move that really paid off. What Sunny did was outstanding.”

Liverpool's cut-price transfer for Chiesa from Juventus last summer did not pay dividends for the Reds as the Italian winger spent much of his time on the sidelines due to injury or fitness issues. As such, the Premier League champions are considering parting ways with Chiesa this summer, with Antonio Conte's Napoli said to be interested.

Italian journalist Valter De Maggio has reported that Napoli will face a challenge in their bid to sign Chiesa this summer. The report has suggested that Inter Milan, AC Milan are two of the sides that have joined the hunt to land the Euro 2020 winner's signature.

DID YOU KNOW?

According to reports, Chiesa only played 104 minutes during the Premier League season (466 minutes across all competitions), and is reportedly paid £140,000 a week. As such, Liverpool are said to be keen on a potential bidding war, which would earn them an influx of cash.

As per earlier reports, Chiesa does not have any preferences over a move to any specific club; however, his heart demands a move back to Italy this summer. He is said to be keen on returning to a familiar setting to return to form.

Postecoglou to recall Tottenham player and drop two big-name stars

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is facing an absolutely huge week in N17 amid mounting pressure on the Australian, with an all-important Europa League quarter-final clash against Eintracht Frankfurt on the horizon.

Following a dismal campaign, with Spurs languishing fairly near the relegation zone after 16 league defeats, reports claim chairman Daniel Levy is in the market for a new manager, and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola is Tottenham’s top target.

“It’s been a ridiculously challenging season on all fronts and every fan has the right to show their frustration and again,” said Postecoglou on Tottenham’s disappointing 2024/2025.

“I think at times it has overstepped and when it oversteps, I will not stand for it because I am a little bit old school with that, but they have every right.

“I think I said before the game it is up to us to try and find a way to get them back on board with what we’re doing. I still can’t get away from the fact we have a real massive opportunity for ourselves between now and the end of the season.

“I think it would be different if that didn’t exist. It would be a tougher road to navigate, but I am hoping that irrespective of how the fans feel about me, what I’m doing and the project we’ve embarked on, I hope when the games come around, they just get behind the players and the team because they can make an enormous difference.”

Ahead of their clash with the Saints, a report by journalist Dan Kilpatrick has shared how Postecoglou is planning to shape up.

Tottenham to recall Porro whilst dropping Maddison and Son

According to the Standard Sport reporter, Postecoglou will likely completely overhaul his starting eleven and drop key men, with their European bout against Eintracht firmly in the tactician’s thinking.

It is believed the Spurs boss will recall right-back Pedro Porro to the starting lineup versus Southampton, having recently lost his place to the rejuvenated Djed Spence, while big-name duo James Maddison and Son Heung-min will be dropped and rested for Frankfurt.

Criticism has centered on Son this season, with the South Korean megastar failing to replicate his best form this term and talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara questioning his leadership qualities.

“Son Heung-min did not show the demeanour of a captain,” said O’Hara on Son after the defeat to Chelsea.

“Son Heung-min is a player who sets an example, and he did so in the past, but that is no longer enough. Son Heung-min cannot dominate opponents and his sharpness has diminished, failing to make a difference.”

Maddison, meanwhile, has been in and out of the line-up recently despite bagging 11 goals and seven assists this term.

Has there been a Test in which the team batting last required only one run to win?

Also, what’s the highest ODI total without a fifty?

Steven Lynch22-Jan-2019South Africa lost a one-day international the other day despite losing only two wickets. Was this a record? asked Brian Taylor from England
South Africa made 266 for 2 in that match in Port Elizabeth last week, but still lost to Pakistan. This was the fifth time that a team lost an ODI despite losing only two wickets: the last one was also in South Africa, in Johannesburg in 2003-04, when West Indies lost despite amassing 304 for 2, with Chris Gayle making 152 not out. Pakistan lost a World Cup match against West Indies in Melbourne in 1991-92 despite scoring 220 for 2 (West Indies replied with 221 for 0, so only two wickets went down all day, although Brian Lara did retire hurt). The other instances were by India (183 for 2) against Pakistan in Sahiwal in 1978-79 (India conceded the match in protest at a barrage of short-pitched bowling), and by New Zealand (167 for 2) against Australia in Auckland in 1989-90 (they were behind the target score when rain ended the match). Two ODIs have been lost by a team losing only one wicket, although both of them were badly affected by rain. In the 1991-92 World Cup, Zimbabwe lost to India despite scoring 104 for 1 in Hamilton, as they were behind the target score when rain ended the match. And in Hambantota in 2013-14, Sri Lanka had scored 138 for 1 before a long rain delay; New Zealand were set a Duckworth-Lewis target of 198 in 23 overs, and got there off the last ball.MS Dhoni scored 193 runs in the three-match ODI series against Australia without a century. What’s the most in a three-match series where the batsman did not score a hundred? asked Savo Ceprnich from South Africa
Surprisingly perhaps, Mahendra Singh Dhoni – who scored 51, 55 not out and 87 not out in the recent series in Australia – comes in quite a way down this particular list. Another Indian, Kris Srikkanth, leads, with 244 runs in the home series against Sri Lanka in 1981-82, when his scores were 57, 95 and 92. The New Zealand opener Martin Guptill hit 232 runs – 70, 77 and 85 – at home against Zimbabwe in 2011-12. Dhoni’s average of 193, however, is the highest in a three-match ODI series without a hundred, beating Ricky Ponting’s 186 for Australia in Zimbabwe in 1999-2000.Has there been a Test in which the team batting last required only one run to win? asked Anas from Pakistan
There have been seven Test matches in which the scores were level after three innings, so the side batting last had to come out and score one run to win. In two of those, someone hit a four to end the match – Sarfraz Nawaz for Pakistan against New Zealand in Hyderabad in 1976-77, and Marcus Trescothick for England against West Indies at The Oval in 2004. When West Indies beat India by ten wickets in Bridgetown in 1982-83, the winning run was a no-ball from Syed Kirmani.Kris Srikkanth piled up 244 – 57, 92 and 95 – runs against Sri Lanka in 1981-82, the most in three ODIs without a century scored•Getty ImagesWhat’s the highest ODI total without a fifty? asked Brian Powell from England
The highest one-day international total without an individual half-century is England’s 285 against Sri Lanka at Old Trafford in 2006, when the highest score was Andrew Strauss’ 45, unusually scored from No. 4. They beat the previous record, Pakistan’s 281 for 9 against West Indies in Adelaide in 2004-05, when the highest individual contribution was also 45, by Mohammad Yousuf. The record for Tests is England’s 315 against West Indies in Port-of-Spain in 1985-86 (highest score 47 by David Gower), just ahead of South Africa’s 313 against England in Johannesburg in 2015-16 (Dean Elgar 46).Virat Kohli now has five international centuries at the Adelaide Oval. Is that a record for the most hundreds by a batsman at an overseas venue? asked Aditya Alok from India
Virat Kohli does indeed now have five international centuries at Adelaide Oval – three in Tests and two in one-day internationals, one of those being against Pakistan in the 2015 World Cup. The record for an away venue is seven centuries, by Saeed Anwar and Sachin Tendulkar in Sharjah (all in ODIs).England’s Jack Hobbs scored five centuries in Melbourne, all in Tests (a record), while Tendulkar collected five at both the Premadasa Stadium (four in ODIs) and the Sinhalese Sports Club (four in Tests) in Colombo. Younis Khan made six international centuries in Abu Dhabi and five in Dubai, while Misbah-ul-Haq scored five in Abu Dhabi – but most of those came while Pakistan were playing “home” matches in the UAE.Use our feedback form or the Ask Steven Facebook page to ask your stats and trivia questions

Allen's record-breaking 137 seals the series for New Zealand with two games left

Pakistan inserted the hosts for the third time in a row, and failed to chase the target down on all three occasions

Vishal Dikshit17-Jan-2024A blizzard of sixes off Finn Allen’s bat tumbled records in Dunedin, where his second T20I hundred deflated Pakistan and helped New Zealand pile on 224 for a comfortable 45-run win in the third T20I. For the third game in a row, New Zealand were put in to bat; and for the third time in a row, Pakistan failed to chase down the score by relying on Babar Azam again, this time to lose the series which still has two games to go.New Zealand had been going hard with the bat all series, and Allen took it up a level on Wednesday by smashing 16 of their 18 sixes and recording the highest individual T20I score for the hosts by going past Brendon McCullum’s 123 from the 2012 World Cup. Allen’s 16 sixes are also the joint-highest in a T20I innings, which helped him sprint to a 26-ball fifty and then a 48-ball century.Pakistan also helped Allen by bowling too short even with the new ball, and the opening batter laid into their attack with his belligerent pulls and golf-like swings down the ground. In reply, only Mohammad Rizwan briefly gave Babar some support with his 24 but once he fell in the eighth over, no other Pakistan batter lasted more than 10 balls while Babar was out there. Babar fell for 58 while trying to up the scoring as the asking rate soared and Pakistan fell short again.

Allen demolishes Pakistan again

Allen had been going hard at the top earlier too, and with his highest T20 score, he already has 373 runs from five innings in the format this year. His assault started in the third over when he made the ball disappear beyond the square-leg boundary with consecutive sixes off Shaheen Afridi.Haris Rauf would have thought he would have a good day when he dismissed Devon Conway in the next over that saw just two runs, but his second over – the last of the powerplay – was smashed for 28, with 27 of those coming off Allen’s bat. Whether Rauf pitched it short or on good length, Allen put them away for two fours and three sixes in the over to help New Zealand post 67 in the powerplay.Coming into the XI for this game, Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Wasim combined for two boundary-less overs after that, but Allen, who crossed 50 meanwhile, then charged against Nawaz for two sixes in the ninth over. Wasim and Zaman Khan managed to keep Allen quiet with a few yorkers and slower ones to pull the scoring rate under ten briefly, but Allen took off again once Rauf returned. He raced from 72 to 91 in just five deliveries by smashing Rauf for three sixes in an over that went for 23, and went past a hundred with a six and a four over covers off Afridi. All this, and there were seven overs still left in the innings. Even though Tim Seifert, who came in for the injured Kane Williamson, and Daryl Mitchell fell in successive overs, there was no stopping Allen. He belted Nawaz for consecutive sixes in the 15th over, and Wasim too for the same treatment when the fast bowler erred towards the pads.It was finally an accurate length ball from Zaman that lacked pace and stopped the carnage when Allen chopped on, after the previous ball – a full toss – had been smashed into the sight screen. Allen’s 137 off 62 also featured five fours, which were hardly the highlight of the knock. His liking for the leg side was evident no matter where the ball was pitched to him – 13 of his 16 sixes landed on that area, where he smashed 95 (69%) of his total runs.Wickets continued to fall after Allen’s in New Zealand’s attempt to score quick runs. Mark Chapman, Mitchell Santner and Glenn Phillips fell in the space of seven balls as Pakistan conceded just 13 runs in the last 12 deliveries to stop New Zealand just short of their first-T20I score of 226.Babar Azam hit his third consecutive fifty of the series•Getty Images

Babar the lone man standing for Pakistan

Babar was left to do the bulk of the scoring without much support from the other end, amid a stiff asking rate to keep up with. The promising Saim Ayub fell to Tim Southee again after miscuing his slower ball, before Babar and Rizwan kept the chase going. Rizwan’s two meaty sixes would have given Pakistan hope as he and Babar put on 39 off 28 for the second wicket to keep them ticking at above eight runs an over, but when Santner fired one wide of the crease after seeing Rizwan charge, Seifert completed the stumping to dent Pakistan.Fakhar could have been dismissed next over too had his leading edge off Ish Sodhi not landed in no-man’s land behind the wicketkeeper, but his luck soon ran out when he miscued Lockie Ferguson to mid-off. That left Pakistan needing 130 from 55 balls.Babar unfurled sublime strokes like he did in his 57 and 66 in the first two games – like some wristy flicks and lofted strokes off Sodhi, even as his handsome pull off Matt Henry was probably his shot of the day. His third fifty in a row was again not enough because Azam Khan holed out to a sharp catch from Phillips at deep midwicket at the end of the 13th over, and seven balls later, Iftikhar Ahmed fell short for a quick run with a lazy attempt after he drove the ball to cover from where Santner fired in a direct hit.Babar unleashed two more fours off Sodhi before falling in the same over, the 16th, and Pakistan’s task of scoring another 91 runs off 25 balls was not going to happen despite some boundaries from Nawaz and Afridi.

Nick Gubbins century grinds Somerset towards submission

Nick Gubbins effortlessly struck his third LV=Insurance County Championship as Hampshire ground Somerset towards submission on day three at the Ageas Bowl.Left-handed batter Gubbins gracefully hit an unbeaten 139 – his highest score for Hampshire since joining from Middlesex – to move past 900 runs in the Championship this season.Together with Fletcha Middleton and James Vince’s half-centuries, Gubbins led Hampshire to a 501-run lead having forced Somerset to wallow in the south coast heat.Facing a minimum of 128 overs to bat out, the visitors slumped to 38 for 2 but Sean Dickson’s unbeaten 63 held them together. They reached the close on 102 for 2 with 400 still required to win.Hampshire’s title ambitions had been ended by 11am by Surrey’s victory over Warwickshire.Their openers Toby Albert and Middleton had tediously scored 45 runs in 23 overs the previous evening, but their lack of adventure paid dividends, having taken much of the lacquer off the ball. They batted with more intent as they took their partnership to 80 with little fuss, Middleton reaching his fourth fifty in his debut season. They both fell within four overs of each other, Middleton bowled two balls after reaching the milestone and Albert was caught and bowled by New Zealander Neil Wagner, on his Somerset debut.Gubbins had been incredibly slow, on an even slower pitch, in the first innings to take his seasonal strike rate to the third lowest in Division One – only Dom Sibley and Luke Proctor were slower for those who had scored more than 200 runs. This time around he showed an attacking flair, taking part of a cover-drive battle with Vince as he reached 50 in 81 balls. The 135 balls his subsequent century came in, were the fastest of his six tons for Hampshire.Lewis Gregory, although on the pitch, was not used at all on day three, while fellow opening bowler Jack Brooks only bowled five overs before the declaration. As such, Gubbins and Vince – whose 50 came in 66 balls – found the going easy with little pressure built to stop them from scoring at will. The run rate from the morning session 3.94 before moving to 4.97 in the afternoon.Vince was caught from behind to end a 162-run stand, but Tom Prest picked up where he left off to continue the flow of runs with Gubbins – who is enjoying the second-best Championship season of his career. The pair added 79 together before the long-awaited declaration came at tea.Liam Dawson was the main worry for Somerset, with the occasional spin more threatening than pace on a feather-bed. And it came to pass as the left-armer had Tom Lammonby stumped with his third delivery.Tom Abell followed when James Fuller’s extra pace was edged to second slip, where Vince took a sharp catch.Dickson and Andy Umeed showed tenacity and a backbone vital to save Hampshire from defeat. Dickson, in particular, looked in good order to reach his half-century in 86 balls.

Liverpool make contact to sign 22 y/o PSG star and already receive reply

A new report claims Liverpool have made contact with a “superb” Paris Saint-Germain star over a summer move to Anfield and the Champions League winners have already responded.

Liverpool eyeing two Premier League players after Kerkez

Reds supporters couldn’t have asked for a much more positive start to the summer transfer window, with the arrival of Florian Wirtz having the potential to be huge. Not only that, but Jeremie Frimpong has also joined and Milos Kerkez is on the verge of coming in from Bournemouth.

Liverpool’s business may not stop there, however, and another Cherries player, Antoine Semenyo, continues to be linked with a move to the club. He has been mentioned as an option for some time, following an excellent season in the Premier League in 2024/25, in which he scored 11 times.

Antoine Semenyo for Bournemouth.

A new centre-back has to be looked at by the Reds at some point, considering Jarell Quansah is off to Bayer Leverkusen, and a bid for Crystal Palace ace Marc Guehi could be made at some point this week.

Further up the pitch, Lyon winger Malick Fofana has been talked about as an exciting young target, with Liverpool ahead of Chelsea in the race to snap him up.

Liverpool make contact with PSG star Barcola

According to The Boot Room, Liverpool have now made contact and enquired with Paris Saint-Germain about signing winger Bradley Barcola this summer.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are all in the same boat, but it is stated that PSG don’t want the France international to leave and have told those clubs their stance.

It looks unlikely that Liverpool will be able to entice Barcola to Anfield, but if the situation changes, they should be looking to bring him in as a hugely gifted option.

The Frenchman is now a Champions League winner after PSG’s brilliance last season, and he played his part in the success, scoring three goals and registering four assists in the competition.

At just 22, there is still so much more to come from Barcola as the years pass, and while he is at his best on the left wing, his versatility allows him to be a huge threat on the right flank and even in a central attacking role.

He was lauded as a “superb” player by football talent scout Jacek Kulig back in 2023, and has only grown as a footballer since then, and Liverpool’s best chance of signing him may be if PSG sign another attacker this summer, potentially stunting his growth there.

Granted, new wide options aren’t essential for the Reds, especially if both Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo stay put, but players with the long-term ability of Barcola may not come around too often.
